Bare with me here…..this is my first attempt at a pattern for Ravelry and I decided to start with something SUPER simple.

Basically it is a whole lot of Knitting in the round on double point needles with a single row of Purl and decreasing drastically towards the end to make the bottom of the case.  There is a single yarn strand that comprises the drawstring ( this is sewn into the case with a plastic knitting needle or a crocket hook.)

It really protects my sweet camera which measures approx.  3.5in X 2.25in X 1.25in

Yarn:        I used approx one quarter of a skein of Lambs Pride Worsted in a beautiful variegated grape purple color.

Needles:  4 double point size 8US needles

Crochet hook or plastic needle for sewing in drawstring at top of case

Key:(I’ve included links to the FABULOUS Stitch Diva Studios that has actual pictures in their stitch tutorials{HELPFUL}—- other than drawings of needles and yarn which I find {NOT HELPFUL WHAT-SO-EVER!})

LTCO= Long tail Cast on

DPN= Double point Needle

K2tog= Knit 2 stitches from left needle together as you would a single stitch in knitwise

BO in K= Bind off in knit stitch

OK,  Here we go!

LTCO 16 ST onto the first of three DPN

LTCO 17 ST onto the second DPN

LTCO 17 ST onto the third DPN

—–there is a 4th needle which will be used to assist in knitting in the round.

Make a triangle shape out of the 3 CO DPNs; making sure that all of the stitches face the center of the triangle.  Using the 4th DPN begin knitting…. joining into the round.

K 1 round

P 1 round

K 23 rounds (yes TWENTY THREE)

After you have completed the 23rd round of knitting you should begin to decrease….this is what makes the bottom of the case nice and tight and closed.

Decreasing is done on this particular case by doing the following pattern

*K2, K2tog, K2, K2tog, K2, K2tog.…( you get the idea)  repeating from (*)  all around this round.

Now repeat this pattern on all of the remaining rounds until you are left with 2 or 3 stitches on each of the 3 DPNs

DO a simple BO in K with the remaining stitches.

Now I’m sure it resembles a babies hat of sorts…..

follow me here….

turn it upside down.

Cut a single length of yarn from the same skein ( approx. 14inches long)

You will need to either crochet or sew this length of yarn into the top of the case at the widest part, just under the Purl round….this will be the drawstring for the case.

Now….place your camera inside the case; pull the drawstring tight; and………………

TA-DA you have a very cute and functional camera satchel!

I truly hope that this Tutorial was helpful.

If there is any feedback, good or bad, please let me know how I can improve it.

Happy knitting everyone….Happy knitting.
